Q. What were you doing before you joined KBS?

A. Before joining KBS I worked for MES Power Engineering, a high voltage engineering company based in Scotland. My work involved designing low and high voltage systems including substations, cable sizing, designing earthing systems and power distribution systems for new developments.

Q. Summarise your day-to-day job description in five bullet points

A. Designing, drawing, making drawings of as fitted, checking, making comparisons to test sheets.

Q. Which projects have you been involved with during your time at KBS?

A. Mostly projects carried out on behalf of Waitrose. These have included the replacement of refrigeration systems.

Q. If you had to highlight one ‘Gold’ moment from your time so far at KBS, what would it be and why?

A. The first time I was able to use my knowledge to improve the company’s designs. It felt great to put my experience to such good use. Although not difficult to do, I have found converting PDF files to CAD using my knowledge of CAD very satisfying – truly a Gold moment.

Q. If you had to choose one thing that you’ve found particularly challenging in your job, what would it be and why?

A. Understanding initally the level of expectation in respect of what I do. This meant me going through the entire design process of a project once to ascertain precisely what was expected of me.

Q. What are your aspirations for the future?

A. To continue developing my skills as a Designer. To be successful designing on a range of different projects.
