VMU Gas Detection System

Brinklow

THE OPPORTUNITY

We were pleased to have been given the opportunity to upgrade the diesel trucks at John Lewis & Partners’ Distribution Centre in Brinklow into more efficient models. Woodward & Co approached us with the requirement of the electrical designs and installations to be created by Synergy Building Services.

THE DELIVERY

Having completed a similar project for Waitrose & Partners in Northampton, we were able to bring our expertise to the job and provide the best results. It was crucial to handle this project with proper safety measures since the new trucks run on methane, which is more energy efficient than diesel but far more combustible and dangerous. However, with the help of our team we were able to achieve the desired outcome seamlessly. Our team were successful in complying with all the government guidelines that were imposed due to the pandemic, including social distancing.

THE OUTCOME

This 4-week project required us to collaborate with other developers to construct, install, and equip a gas detection system that turns off the building’s power when activated. This initiates a series of extractor fans and sounds an alarm. The client was delighted with the outcome of this project, and we have since worked on other projects for John Lewis & Partners including installation of new refrigeration systems across multiple stores all over the UK.
